


What should I expect?
Your training will begin with learning the time-tested basics of the style. You will be
instructed in proper karate stances, movements, blocks, various hand and foot strikes,
falling and take down methods, kata or self-defense forms as well as a wide array of
practical self-defense hand to hand techniques. The techniques are taught using their
Japanese names with English translation. Students are expected to practice for
promotion tests to advance their karate rank in this style.
Students are required to learn the Japanese terminology and to follow the prescribed
school edict. Respect towards the school, its founders, instructors and fellow members
is mandatory for all. The programs strict rules are designed to prevent injury and to
develop well-rounded individuals.
Members are required to help or instruct others when requested without payment.
This club-like Non-ego atmosphere is conducive to acquiring the wonderful character
building benefits obtainable from long-term study of this unique discipline. Students
find the program both fun and rewarding.
Persons of questionable health or with a history of back, neck or joint surgeries or
injuries may wish to refrain from karate training. Our training programs are designed
to minimize injury however given the very nature of the activities injuries may occur.
